For D.I.Y.’ers, Designer Hardware
Australian designer, ordered hardware online for a sawhorse he was building, he was so disappointed with the quality that he decided to make his own.
The result, joints cast in aluminum and bronze, can be used in a variety of simple furniture pieces, including swing sets like the one he built for his nieces and nephews. “For me, design is taking an idea and improving on it,” he said.
Mr. Wilson has produced three types of hardware: one for tables, one for benches and one for three-legged stools. Called A-Joints, they are on display at Matter in SoHo, along with items incorporating the hardware, which were fabricated at the store in hardwoods and marble.
